Football, One legend deserves another: Nike Tiempo Legend V Premium

Nike’s relentless innovation ethos ensures the best boot is the next boot. But across the brand, there are treasured icons that stand the test of time.

The legendary Tiempo stands alone

First introduced as the Tiempo D in 1985, the boot has evolved significantly while remaining instantly recognizable to fans and players alike. One of its signature features, the oversized fold-over tongue, gained immense popularity after eight Brasil players wore it in the 1994 World Cup Final in California.

The original purpose of the fold-over tongue was to provide a flat surface atop the laces for a better strike of the ball. As boots and laces evolved, this was no longer necessary and the iconic tongue was retired with the launch of the Tiempo IV in 2011.

Inspired by a warrior

Nike packaging has long included the statement: “Engineered to the exact specifications of championship athletes.”  One of those championship athletes in particular, Francesco Totti, has continued to request the iconic Tiempo tongue on his boots and Nike has delivered for him through the years. Now, with Totti as Nike Football’s muse, a limited-edition Tiempo Legend V Premium will be available that features the Tiempo tongue while honoring the player who wears it.
“I have always played with boots that had a tongue and for me, this detail on the product is very important. I wear the Tiempo because it is a comfortable boot with a soft leather upper that adapts well to the foot's shape and grants a great touch of the ball. It's a classic boot that helps me perform at my best when I'm on the pitch.” - Francesco Totti
Totti has played his entire legendary career with AS Roma, becoming the club’s top goal scorer and its most-capped player. His reputation as a warrior inspired Nike’s design team to place a unique logo on the sockliner that incorporates Totti’s uniform number (10). The tongue and Swoosh of this boot also play off the warrior inspiration with a metallic aesthetic designed to mimic armor.

This specific version of the Tiempo has a beautiful color since it's a perfect mix between classic elements like the black upper and more innovative ones like the chrome details on the Swoosh and the tongue. The tongue itself makes this boot really unique and is a key element for me in a football boot.” - Totti

The Tiempo Legend V Premium features exquisite craftsmanship and quilted Alegria leather. It is protected by Nike Hypershield and resists overstretch, retaining the Tiempo's timeless shape and performance.

Three-thousand individually numbered pairs of the Tiempo Legend V Premium will be available on nike.com and at select retailers March 5.

Reynolds Cycling Launches New All Terrain Road Disc Brake Wheelset

Reynolds expands its line of disc brake road wheels with an all terrain capable wheelset, available now

Sandy, UTAH. -  Carbon wheel specialist, Reynolds Cycling has just released a new versatile road wheel, the ATR (All Terrain Road) Disc Brake. Designed in response to the growth of gravel riding and cyclocross racing, the ATR Disc Brake offers cyclists a wheel that performs well in all conditions, and keeps going even when the smooth pavement ends.

“When designing these wheels, we wanted to create the ultimate tool for these all terrain road bikes that are sporting disc brakes, thru axles and more capable geometries,” said Rob Aguero, Marketing Manager at Reynolds Cycling. “The ATRs give riders the ability to run more powerful disc brakes and a tubless set up, all on a rim that will be able to handle whatever they can throw at them, without sacrificing weight or performance.”

The ATR Disc Brake features a stout, wide-profile carbon fiber rim that allows for wider tires and added durability on rougher and loose terrain. In addition to its Center Lock, disc brake specific hub, the ATR Disc Brake is also a tubeless clincher design, which allows riders to run lower tire pressure for additional traction while at the same time helping to prevent flats. Tubeless road combined with carbon rims provide a very comfortable ride for those all day adventures. The wheel uses 24 spoke count with straight pull lacing for low weight and enhanced compliance. MSRP $1,550 USD

Reynolds will be debuting the ATR Disc Brakes at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS) this March 6th-8th at the Kentucky International Convention Center at booth #407.

New LED Triple Tennis Court Lighting Introduced by Access Fixtures

WORCESTER, Mass., Feb. 25, 2015 -- Access Fixtures, a leader in commercial and sports lighting, is introducing LED tennis court lighting packages for triple courts, three adjacent tennis courts. LED is the first choice in lighting technology for tennis court lighting, but lighting triple courts with LED has been challenging. As light emitted per luminaire increases, lighting triple courts with LED lighting has become easier. As LED prices decline, lighting triple courts is less expensive. Responding to increasing demand by larger venues wanting to install new LED lighting or upgrade existing lighting to LED, Access Fixtures is now providing standardized LED triple tennis court lighting systems in addition to custom LED tennis court lighting solutions.

"While Access Fixtures has been providing customized LED lighting solutions for tennis clubs, country clubs, resorts and schools, we created standard packages based on repetitive requests for similar LED lighting solutions. Standardization adds value for our customers," said Access Fixtures CEO, Steven Rothschild. "Our new LED tennis court lighting packages expand the offering from single and twin LED tennis court lighting kits to LED tennis court lighting for triple courts."

Compared to HID sources like metal halide, LED has instant-on/instant-off capabilities, reduced energy use, reduced maintenance, and max/min factors for more even lighting levels. With the increasing power of LED luminaires, Access Fixtures lighting specialists are able to illuminate triple courts from the exterior of the court, outside the fence. This eliminates the need to put lights on poles between courts, eliminating trenching or digging holes in existing courts to add poles. Now LED lighting can be installed around triple tennis courts leaving the playing surface untouched and damage free.

About Access Fixtures

Access Fixtures offers commercial and sports lighting for less, and features light fixtures with LED, induction, eHID, PS-MH and CFL light sources that are long lasting and energy saving. With custom manufacturing capabilities, Access Fixtures can competitively build and custom finish luminaires and poles to the performance specifications required. Access Fixtures' extensive lineup of interior and exterior lighting fixtures includes products for sports, commercial, industrial, residential and hospitality applications. Luminaire types include wall packs, area lights, bollards, garage lighters, vandal resistant, exit and emergency, high bay, low bay, linear fluorescent, track lighting and grow light fixtures.

G3 ION LT 12 ski-touring binding wins ISPO Award

G3©
Award calls out new G3 binding for defining “a new category of ultralight and powerful.”

Vancouver, B.C. (Feb. 24, 2015) – Earlier this month, G3’s new ION LT 12 ski-touring binding won a 2015/16 ISPO Award, given each year to recognize the most innovative products introduced at ISPO, the European outdoor and ski winter trade show.

The ION LT 12 is following in the footsteps of its cousin, the ION 12, which has already earned an Editor’s Choice award from Backcountry Magazine, a Skier’s Choice award from Powder Magazine and an Editor’s Pick award from Freeskier Magazine.

Based on the award-winning ION 12, the ION LT 12 offers the simplicity and light weight of a brakeless binding while maintaining the ION’s user-friendly and performance oriented features and benefits. The ION LT weighs just 456 grams per binding, and was created for people pursuing longer ski tours or those concerned about weight.

The ISPO Award described it as “the highest performing, most user friendly, and most reliable lightweight tech binding you could ask for,” adding “it defines a new category of ultralight and powerful.”

Along with the ION LT 12, G3 is also introducing the new ION 10 for Fall 2015.

“As we grow the ION family of bindings to three with the LT 12 and the 10, winning an ISPO Award for category innovation is another great reinforcement of all the hard work we’ve put in on the ION,” said Oliver Steffen, founder and President of G3. “It’s also great to win this award for a product like the ION LT 12, which combines superb functionality in a lightweight package – attributes that really resonate with our core audience.”

All three ION bindings feature G3’s beautiful aesthetics combined with superior power transfer, energy absorption and exceptional retention. Whether you are a hard-charging freeride skier looking to lap the side country at your local resort, or an expedition skier exploring untouched peaks in the backcountry, the ION 12, ION 10 and ION LT 12 offer the full range for different type of ski tourers.
