The minimum wage has been raised by
$10 to $80 per month for the 650,000
workers employed in Cambodia’s 700 shoe and apparel manufacturing
plants. The wage negotiations were supervised by the Asian country’s
Ministry of Labor. In addition to the new minimum guaranteed salaries,
workers will get a monthly
$7 subsidy for housing and transportation as
well as an “attendance bonus” of
$3.
