Intres and Euretco, the buying groups behind the Intersport and Sport 2000 banners in the Netherlands, have finalized their agreement to merge. This comes a few days after the Dutch competition authority gave its go-ahead to the tie-up. However, the agreement entails that the enlarged entity, called Euretco but run from the former Intres offices, will have to divest its assets relating to Sport 2000. The new buying group is holding negotiations on the issue with Ariston-Nord-West-Ring (ANWR): The group already holds the license for Sport 2000 in Germany and Switzerland, and its Dutch arm handles purchasing and other services for about 180 sports retailers.
