Retail and web News : Backcountry.com Starts Selling Bicycles

Backcountry.com began offering a deep selection of high-end, performance bikes and bike gear for the first time. The selection will include bikes, clothing, accessories, components, tools, and racks. Until now, cyclists had to visit other Backcountry owned cycling specific sites to view and buy those products.

Backcountry has offered all the staples of the cycling life except for bike gear itself,” said Bike General Manager Brendan Quirk. “No chains, no tires, no chamois cream, no brake pads. The site teased cyclists with its relevancy, but it was never more than partial.  I was living proof that cyclists loved shopping at Backcountry, and that nothing would be better than if Backcountry had a comprehensive selection of bike-specific gear. I'm proud to say that the day has come.”

Premium brands are part and parcel to the specialty retail experience. Backcountry’s all-things-bike selection includes (but isn’t limited to): Pinarello, Santa Cruz, BMC, Yeti, Orbea, Salsa, Ridley, Mavic, Easton, Capo, Giordana, Giro, Gore Bike Wear, Louis Garneau, Pear Izumi, Shimano, Campagnolo, Zipp, Fox Racing Shox, Rock Shox, First Endurance, DZ Nuts, Hammer Nutrition, Skratch Labs, Catlike, Continental, Schwalbe, SRAM, Look, Michelin, Vittoria, Feedback, Reynolds, CycleOps, 3T, San Marco, Lezyne, Chamois Butter, Clean Bottle, Northwave, 2XU, Biknd, Motorex, Arundel, K-Edge, DMT, and VeloShine.
Bikes and bike gear will augment Backcountry’s selection of premium outdoor gear for hiking, camping, climbing, paddling, kayaking, trail running, fly fishing, skiing, and snowboarding, creating even more of an authentic mix for customers who do everything outside.
