Business news :The American Bicyclist Study, On the Road to 2020

ALLENTOWN, Pa.—The Gluskin Townley Group LLC announces the first of what will be a series of consumer research reports that will be syndicated as The American Bicyclist Study: On the Road to 2020. This report series will cover key changes in the U.S. bicycle market, including the fact that Baby Boomers are no longer driving the market, and the smaller Generation X is now the sweet spot for purchases of both new and used bicycles—and is contributing to the flat U.S. bicycle market.

“We initially thought that we would be ready to release The American Bicyclist Study for syndication back in May, but there was simply too much data to work through,” Elliot Gluskin, managing partner of The Gluskin Townley Group said in making the announcement that the first of what will be a series of consumer research reports is now being written. The American Bicyclist research reports will initially focus on U.S. adults, according to Gluskin, who says the report series will include key changes and trends by comparing the four clusters of infrequent, casual, moving up and enthusiast bicyclists from research done in 2000 to their 2012 research, also looking at the most important generations of Americans to understand the impact of the research findings on supplier and retailer generational marketing and promotional messages, channel dynamics and product development issues.

The Gluskin Townley Group will offer a set of reports and added value services for industry suppliers and another set specifically for specialty bicycle retailers with a supporting package of added value retail services. “In analyzing the American Bicyclist generational data we have concluded and predict that there will be another bike boom,” Gluskin remarks.
