The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has supported the Annecy based outdoor Forum initiative from its beginning in 2010 and agreed to maintain the support for 2011 and 2012 in order to strengthen international understanding of the role of conferences in bringing the outdoor community together.  From 2013 onwards the EOG will be teaming up with other National Associations to create a new, expanded event that will be hosted in different European Countries in each of the next two years.  In 2013 the new conference, which will be called the European Outdoor Summit™, will be presented in conjunction with the SOG (Scandinavian Outdoor Group) and then in the following year, we will team up with the FGO (Fachgruppe Outdoor – part of the BSI Bundesverband der Deutschen Sportartikel-Industrie e.V.) in Germany.

EOG President David Udberg said, “We will be attending the Annecy Forum for a third year and I am convinced that it was the right decision for us to support this event.  It has always been our goal, to work together with our partners to provide the industry with an invaluable opportunity to build knowledge and network at a European level and this is what we will do with the European Outdoor Summit.”

The EOG is convinced that the industry will benefit from a conference with rotating venues around Europe to enable more outdoor companies to attend the events. It will feature, top level keynote speakers, break out sessions, a stronger international focus, and the EOG Team is looking forward to working with the Scandinavian Outdoor Group and the German FGO to realise this exciting concept over the next two years.  All three core partners will join in setting up a Steering Council for the new European Outdoor Summit and there will be an opportunity to add a third venue after the initial two year period. The European Outdoor Summit will also provide great opportunities for sponsorship and support and already both ISPO and OutDoor have confirmed they will add their considerable knowledge of hosting outdoor industry events to the project.

Mark Held, EOG secretary general comments: “The combination of the EOG, SOG and FGO, plus support from our two trade fair partners, Messe München and Messe Friedrichshafen, will ensure that this event will be beneficial for the whole industry and will be truly international in character”

About us:

An association set up to represent the common interests of the European outdoor industry. Originally founded in 2003 by nineteen of the world’s largest outdoor companies, this group recognised the need for a cohesive, cross border approach to representation of the outdoor sector. We live in a world of increasing internationalism, where legislation, environment, the media and trade are all now multinational issues.
