Matthias Reinacher will become the European managing director for Pearl Izumi, the Japanese brand of cycling, running and other technical
apparel, from the start of next year.
Based at Pearl Izumi Europe in
Germany, he will replace Jürgen Sprich, who is leaving the company.
Pearl Izumi has been owned since 2008 by Shimano, the Japanese
specialist in bicycle components, which has its European head office in
the Netherlands. Among his assignments, Reinacher is to supervise the
transfer of Shimano Europe’s soft goods division from the Netherlands
and its integration into the European operations of Pearl Izumi in
Germany in the next few months. Shimano’s soft goods entity sells
apparel, footwear and eyewear under the Shimano brand, but the product
range might be rejigged to better complement Pearl Izumi’s offering.
Reinacher is currently senior brand manager at Pearl Izumi Europe.
