Ortovox Introduces New Beacons, Safety Equipment at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market

Longmont, CO (January 17, 2013) –ORTOVOXintroduces new snow safety gear, including beacons, shovels and Avalanche Rescue Sets at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market.

ORTOVOX will showcase the new Zoom+, 3+ and S1+ avalanche transceivers featuring the patented SMART-ANTENNA-TECHNOLOGY, and RECCO® INSIDE, enabling professional rescue personnel to rapidly find buried people and serves as a backup when their units are not turned on or if batteries are exhausted. SMART-ANTENNA-TECHNOLOGY analyses the position of the buried device and automatically turns the transmission antenna with the best reception active and leads the searcher on the optimum route to the buried victim. The search time is noticeably reduced by this technology - for the first time the device owner can improve his/her own safety. The RECCO® Rescue System is two-part technology. Ski resorts and mountain rescue teams carry RECCO® detectors, which send out a search signal. RECCO® reflectors worn by skiers, riders and other outdoors people, bounce back a directional signal that directs the rescuer straight to the reflector.

A new snow shovel program, showcasing six styles, includes the new BADGER and redesigns of the best selling KODIAK and BEAST models. The BADGER is a strong, simple shovel with price, strength and snow clearing in mind. The PRO ALU III and KODIAK both have 90 degree snow clearing function, rubberized / no-freeze grip zones and telescoping shafts. The Redesigned BEAST features a hybrid grip, rubberized grip zone and ideal packing size.

Additionally, ORTOVOX is introducing the 3+ and ZOOM+ AVALANCHE RESCUE SETS. The 3+ SET includes the 3+ transceiver, BEAST shovel and 240 LIGHT PFA PROBE for an MSRP of $479. The ZOOM+ SET includes the ZOOM+ transceiver, BADGER shovel and 240 ECONOMIC probe for an MSRP of $389.
