Santa Barbara, CA, Mar 11, 2013 -
Horny Toad, a lifestyle apparel company based in Santa Barbara,
California, released its Fall 2013 collection at the Winter OR Show.
With cues taken from an inspirational trip to Copenhagen, the collection
features textural richness, clever details and an overarching
“handcrafted modern” aesthetic.
“Heading into the Fall 2013 season, our intent was to merge the
aesthetics of the mid-century past with the ideal future that we imagine
living,” states Kate Larramendy, Design Director at Horny Toad.
“Our styles seek a balance between the Old and New World, natural and
manmade, technology and handcraft, to establish a fashion we sometimes
refer to as ‘simplexity.’ In other words, the best design appears
perfectly simple belying a complex combination of skilled craft and
materials.”
Horny Toad has established a reputation for producing garments that
balance style and function, and the versatility of most pieces make them
perfect for your next adventure or going from “trail to tavern”
seamlessly.
“This fall, we evolved many of our most popular silhouettes and
patterns to emphasize multi-functionality in our apparel,” states Steve
McCann, Marketing Manager for Horny Toad. “I think the brand’s new
direction is evident in this new collection, and the reaction from
buyers has been really positive.”
The women’s clothing collection features rich textures and subtle
details, internally referred to as “popporutnities”. One of the marquee
pieces is the Heartfelt Blanket Hoodie which offers a rich striped
pattern in an extremely cozy boiled wool/angora blend. The new Daydream
fabric, named for its “dreamy” softness, is found in both the Daydream
Dolman Tee and Sueño Deep V Tee. Other stand-out pieces include the
light, 60-g polyester filled, Chambord Skirt, made from 100% Organic
Cotton, and the Silverfox Jumper, made from an incredibly soft blend of
polyester and wool.
The men’s clothing collection also saw a big revolution, as over 70
percent of the line is new for this season. The big story for men is
the Overshirt, featuring an array of styles and applications. Highlights
include the Double Down Shirt, with a polyester lining for temperature
control, Greywolf, made from 90 percent polyester, Sidecar Overshirt,
made from a wool, polyester, and nylon blend, and Chambertin Overshirt
that features a 60-g polyester fill with a 100 percent organic cotton
lining. Other notable pieces include the flannel-lined, organic cotton
Marblehead Chino, Hooded Stout Parka, and Brewster Hoodie with a
polyester sherpa sleeve lining.
