As the 2013 baseball season geared up toward opening day, Team Express –
owner and operator of BaseballExpress.com and other sports-specific
retail websites – achieved 11 percent sales growth in first quarter 2013
over the same three months in 2012, in part due to a 25 percent
increase in shopping from first-time consumers.
Driving the overall revenues rise were sharp surges in purchases
of outerwear (29 percent), catcher’s equipment (25 percent) and footwear
(21 percent), alongside a nearly 10 percent climb for baseball gloves.
Sales soared 27 percent in January, followed by seven percent increases
in February and March.
In addition to BaseballExpress.com, the company’s Softball.com, FootballAmerica.com and TeamExpress.com are also properties.
“Our
strategic marketing, such as intensified promotion and targeted online
tools, has led to an 11 percent increase in website traffic,” says Mark
Marney, CEO of Team Express. “Athletes, parents and sports teams and
leagues clearly appreciate our no-hassle shopping experiences,
competitive pricing and wide array of top brands.”
Team Express
features 50,000-plus SKUs from adidas, Easton, Louisville Slugger,
Mizuno, Nike, Rawlings, Schutt, Wilson, Under Armour and scores of other
premium brands. Renowned for its simple process of personalizing gear
and quick turnaround times, the company is the exclusive supplier to
thousands of schools, as well as professional and amateur teams, leagues
and sports organizations.
New Team Express management led by
Marney – who founded The Golf Warehouse (TGW.com) and
BaseballSavings.com – is modernizing the company’s infrastructure,
enhancing websites and creating even stronger inventory management. It
is also expanding existing soccer and basketball operations while
exploring entry into hockey, lacrosse, rugby and other sports.
