Team Express, the online seller of team products, has bolstered its
management team with the appointments of Greg Barbour as chief
operations officer, Ben Marney as vice president of merchandising and
Dan Shepler as product manager.
The trio is reunited with Team Express CEO Mark Marney, who early
this year led an investor group to acquire the company and modernize its
infrastructure, enhance websites, intensify marketing and create even
stronger inventory management. Each worked with Marney at The Golf
Warehouse (TGW.com) or BaseballSavings.com.
In addition to
TeamExpress.com, the company’s popular BaseballExpress.com, Softball.com
and FootballAmerica.com are the preferred choices for equipment,
apparel, footwear, team uniforms and training aids. Product catalogs and
a brick-and-mortar store near its San Antonio headquarters augment
operations.
“Greg, Ben and Dan’s 25 combined years of e-commerce
expertise is critical to Team Express capitalizing on the online
channel’s rapid annual sales growth,” says Mark Marney, CEO of Team
Express. “With the new management team in place, our ability to offer
even more products at competitive prices is already benefitting
consumers.”
Barbour will direct daily operations, including
marketing, purchasing, customer service and the company’s
200,000-square-foot warehouse. Following eight years in purchasing at
The Golf Warehouse, he managed merchandising at BaseballSavings.com.
Charged
with organization of more than 50,000 items, Ben Marney is responsible
for creating product presentation to consumers and overseeing inventory
control. His career started in the warehouse division of The Golf
Warehouse before managing operations at online retailer DTYdirect.com.
A
former college baseball player, Shepler will lead the full product
cycle for the company’s sport-specific entities. In eight-plus years
with BaseballSavings.com, he was chief buyer for equipment across all
categories, negotiating prices and streamlining product lines to ensure
profitability.
Team Express features a wide variety of products
from adidas, Easton, Louisville Slugger, Mizuno, Nike, Rawlings, Schutt,
Wilson, Under Armour and scores of other premium brands.
