“We want Kingpins Los Angeles to be a place for the Los Angeles denim market to gather, discover interesting resources from the global denim market and from within their own backyard, learn about important issues and be inspired,” said Andrew Olah, Founder of the Kingpins Show.
The Los Angeles section, dubbed the L.A. Workroom, will feature UCAN Zippers USA, a Los Angeles-based maker of zippers that manufactures locally; TSF Global, which will feature innovative photo-real embroidery, flocking, printing and coating techniques for denim and knits; BasicLine, a Kingpins veteran that specializes in beautiful and on-trend embellishments; and Patricia Brandt Company, which will feature Pantone’s latest offerings. Linesman, a Los Angeles-based full-package maker of jeans, knits and wovens, has also joined Kingpins this season.
Smartex, a Turkish industrial laundry equipment manufacturer, will bring a washing machine from its Miracle series and will be offering live demonstrations for the duration of the show. Smartex’s machine reduces the amount of water, waste water, chemicals and heating energy needed to wash garments by 50%, thanks to its innovative design. About Kingpins show :
Kingpins started out in 2004 as a tiny denim supply chain show for folks tired of the mad scramble and soul-deadening crush of handshakes and "who are you's?" and badge-checking at the huge, impersonal sourcing shows that dominate the industry.
The idea was: keep the exhibitor list tight, invite only the best brands, serve tasty food, treat everyone like family and create an atmosphere that's conducive for networking and relationship-building. It worked out pretty well.
We are still small, but we've gone global. You can now find Kingpins shows in New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. And more international shows are in the works.
But we haven't let that go to our heads.
We're still invitation-only and our exhibitor list is still a highly-edited selection of vendors that include denim and sportswear fabric mills from the U.S., Japan, China, India, Morocco, Mexico and Europe, wash houses, full package manufacturers, trim providers and business solutions.
Basically, if it's denim or can be worn with denim - we've got it.
