Mountain Hardwear, Inc.,
a leader in innovative, premium outdoor apparel, equipment and
accessories, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Sportswear
Company (Nasdaq:COLM), introduces technology-rich tents and sleeping
bags in Spring 2014 for adventurers relishing the journey to each
summit.
“This season, the product team really pulled some real,
meaningful hat tricks – bringing true innovation to accessibly priced
backpacking tents and sleeping bags,” says Robert Fry, director of
product merchandising at Mountain Hardwear. “Everyone who’s seen the
Optic Tent and Ratio/Heratio Bag has had the ‘ah-ha’ moment –
recognizing the smart solutions that make us wonder why no-one had
thought of these before. With the Tangent 2, we’ve arguably designed the
strongest alpine tent ever devised, but in a Backpacking tent weight
class. Truly paradigm shifting.”
Featuring two large adjacent doors that open for a wide angle 180° view, the Optic Tent 2.5
(MSRP $240) allows for an expansive, panoramic view from your home away
from home. A roomy layout designed for 2.5 people welcomes smaller
companions or extra gear. Weighing only 5 lbs. 13oz, this freestanding
tent uses industry-leading DAC Pressfit poles. A reflective color-coded
starter tab on the rainfly and canopy make pitching easy no matter how
late you make it to camp.
The Tangent 2 (MSRP $450) is Mountain Hardwear’s
lightest-weight, double wall 4-season tent than can stand up to howling
winds and snow loads, thanks to the Trident Corner. Strength, integrity
and stability are increased with twelve points of contact instead of
the standard four, without additional poles. Utilizing a “soft” third
leg that flexes and bends with wind force, this technology maintains
sounds tent structure in harsh conditions. The Tangent 2 is as light and
strong as a single wall tent with the air flow of a double-wall tent.
The Ratio 32, for men, and the Heratio 32,
for women, (MSRP $230) are the perfect option for campers looking to
step up to down. The innovative ThermoTrap baffle construction of the
32° F rated bag delivers consistent warmth during the summer and into
the shoulder season for backpackers and campers. ThermoTrap Baffle
technology locks Q.Shield™ Down into smaller chambers for less down
migration and even loft height. Q.Shield Down 650-fill has an advanced
treatment applied that resists heat-robbing moisture and retains maximum
loft in damp conditions.
