Wellington, New Zealand, Jul 15, 2013 -
Merino specialist Icebreaker has launched its first yoga-inspired garments for Spring/Summer 2014.
The new versatile garments include merino wool tops, tights and
shorts for women inspired by the functionality and design ethos of yoga,
but which are equally at home in the gym or on a run.
Icebreaker merino is ideal for yoga and fitness because it breathes
to prevent overheating, resists odour and dries fast, says Rob Achten,
Icebreaker Creative Director and Vice President of Product.
“Yoga is
all about reconnecting with the natural world, so it makes no sense to
wear a product that’s 100% synthetic for your yoga practice,” he says.
“Wearing Icebreaker merino brings you closer to nature. Our new
yoga-inspired pieces are athletic, good-looking and highly functional,
and feel amazingly soft and natural against the skin.”
Yoga instructors wear-tested the collection and gave Icebreaker’s
designers advice on what makes a great yoga garment. The instructors
identified coverage and support as the most important attributes for
yoga and fitness.
Icebreaker’s Spirit Tank, Spirit Capri, Sublime Tank, Sublime Zip,
Rush ¾ Tights and Rush Shorts are built for coverage, which extends
reach and lets you move freely, bend and twist with no restriction on
movement. Garments move seamlessly with the body, without bunching up or
slipping down.
The sharply-styled Sublime Tank has a T back I/O racerback that
curves under the shoulder blades rather than cutting into them, while
the Spirit Capri, Rush ¾ Tights and Rush Shorts have a wide
ergonomically-developed waistband that won’t ride up when you’re doing
the downward dog.
All merino wool tops, tights and shorts except the lightweight Spirit
Tank are made from midweight merino jersey fabric for support, and to
prevent excessive sheerness.
