New product : New Yamaha 150cc YS150 FAZER BlueFlex Runs on Gas, Ethanol or Mixture

Yamaha Enters Brazil’s Most Popular Motorcycle Category.

IWATA, September 1, 2013 – Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) announced its new 150 cc YS150 FAZER BlueFlex motorcycle capable of running on gasoline, ethanol fuel or a mixture of the two. Scheduled for release in the Brazilian market in late September, the model marks Yamaha’s entry into the 150-cc class, Brazil’s most popular category of motorcycles.

The model is manufactured by Yamaha Motor da Amazonia Ltda. and will be sold by Yamaha Motor do Brasil Ltda. Yamaha Motor is targeting sales of 74,000 units in the first 12 months. The YS150 FAZER BlueFlex will list for 7,390 Brazilian reals (3,115 U.S.D.) for the standard model and 7,850 (3,310 U.S.D.) reals for the premium model, which features special color schemes and a center stand.

The Aggressive & Powerful YS150 FAZER BlueFlex mates a sophisticated, aerodynamic body and an air-cooled, fuel-injected, flexible-fuel engine. The 150 cc powerplant provides great acceleration as well as excellent fuel efficiency. The newly designed frame and suspension offer comfortable riding even on bumpy backstreet roads.

The 150-cc class accounted for the largest share of the some 1.65 million motorcycles sold in Brazil in 2012, according to Yamaha Motor research. Yamaha Motor believes its versatile new 150 cc model will help the company increase sales by about 18% to approximately 190,000 units by the end of this year. In the longer term, the model is expected to contribute significantly to expanded business and improved profitability targeted by Yamaha Motor over the next few years.
