Vancouver, B.C. (September 12, 2013) – G3, the Canadian-based
company known for its industry-leading backcountry and sidecountry
skiing gear, now offers an ultralight splitboard with many of the
award-winning technologies from its ski line available for purchase at
retailers starting September 1, 2013. Using carbon-fiber technology, the
Blacksheep splitboard stands out as a lightweight, aggressive,
progressive ride.
The addition of the Blacksheep splitboard to the G3 family follows
the company’s introduction two years ago of splitboard skins with
industry leading hardware for matching a splitboard’s unique shape. This
year, G3 also adds a high-traction splitboard skin to the mix.
G3 Blacksheep Splitboard –
The Blacksheep marks G3’s debut in
splitboard snowboards, rounding out G3’s line to include the full range
of backcountry-touring equipment. A mid-wide, all-mountain backcountry
board, the Blacksheep is designed for the backcountry snowboarder
seeking out deep powder stashes and steep lines. Lightweight,
performance and durability are achieved with G3’s CarbonLight
construction, which combines carbon and glass fiber laminates, a
Poplar/Paulownia hybrid wood core, with unique semi-cap construction.
The Blacksheep Splitboard offers excellent floatation as well as solid
edge hold due to an innovative, low-profile full reverse camber,
inspired by G3’s award-winning freeride skis. Coming in on the heels of
G3’s popular, category-leading splitboard climbing skins, the
Blacksheep is helping G3 to push backcountry snowboarding to its fullest
potential. Available in 158, 162, 168. (300/257/292; 7 lbs. 6 oz. in
158cm). $749.95
G3 HighTraction Splitboard Skins –
Well-known for its
outstanding backcountry accessories line and its climbing skins, G3, is
offering high-traction splitboard skins for 2013-2014. Created in
response to a demand from splitboarders, the Alpinist HighTraction
Splitboard Skins are made from a high-plush nylon and have a 15%
greater climbing ability. They are ideal skins for areas where steep
skin tracks are common, and where the goal is to skin up as efficiently
as possible in order to get the best turns downhill. (G3 still makes
its regular Alpinist Splitboard Climbing Skins, for people looking to
balance glide with climbing ability.) $179.95
