Beverly Hills, CA (September 10, 2013)
– Art of Board, a bi-coastal lifestyle and design company known for its
hard surface tiles made from recycled skateboard decks, has announced
it will be supporting the Tony Hawk Foundation’s Stand Up for Skateparks benefit for the fourth consecutive year.
The 10th-Annual Stand Up for Skateparks benefit will take place on
Saturday, October 5th, 2013 at Green Acres Estate in Beverly Hills. The
event attracts many influential figures in the skateboarding and action
sports community, such as Tony Hawk, Travis Pastrana and Shaun White.
“The Tony Hawk Foundation appreciates Art of Board’s continued
support of our mission to help create free, public skateparks in
challenged communities,” said Miki Vuckovich, Executive Director of the
Tony Hawk Foundation. “This is the fourth year that Art of Board has
been an integral part of our Stand Up For Skateparks benefit, and we’re
grateful for their commitment to the communities we serve.”
In addition to being a Gold Sponsor and making a monetary donation to
the cause, Art of Board will be donating various company products to be
auctioned off at the skateboarding exhibition and charity event. All
proceeds from the event will go towards the Tony Hawk Foundation’s
mission of empowering youth through the creation of free, high-quality
public skateparks in low-income communities.
“We’re thrilled to be able to partner with and help the Tony Hawk
Foundation raise money for such an amazing cause that’s so close to our
own company values,” said Bruce Boul, VP and Co-Founder of Art of Board.
“Being a part of Stand Up For Skateparks for the past four years has
been a privilege. We’ve gotten to help underprivileged youth in the
action sports community and have worked with some of the world’s
most-respected skateboarders in the process.”

About Art of Board
Art of Board is a lifestyle and design brand that embodies the
creative spirit, freedom and individuality of skateboarding. Art of
Board-brand hard and soft goods pay homage to a used skateboard deck’s
scratches, gouges and worn graphics – capturing the true soul of
skateboarding. Creators of the first-ever skateboard recycling movement,
I Ride I Recycle allows skateshops, parks, board manufacturers and
individual riders to be part of the brand’s designs by recycling their
skateboards instead of tossing them in the trash. The brand’s goal is to
keep wood waste out of landfills, support skateshops and parks, and
empower youth. By purchasing Art of Board products, customers become
part of the movement and help the brand to support various action sports
charities. For more information, visit artofboard.com.
About Tony Hawk Foundation:
A charitable, non-profit organization, the Tony Hawk Foundation was
established in 2002 by its namesake, professional skateboarder Tony
Hawk, to promote and provide funds for high-quality public skateparks in
low-income areas throughout the United States—with an emphasis on the
word “quality.” Since then, the Foundation has awarded $4.4-million to
529 communities in all 50 States. The Foundation focuses on working with
local officials and grassroots, community-based organizations that plan
to hire designers and contractors with strong experience designing and
building skateparks.
The Tony Hawk Foundation was established by a gift from Tony Hawk.
Its directors raise additional funds through events, industry donations,
and continuing contributions from Tony and other entities. In addition
to skateparks, the Foundation also makes donations to other
children-related charities, as chosen by its Board of Directors.
