award : DYNAFIT Mercury Jacket and Pant Wins Backpacker Magazine Editors’ Choice Award

Boulder, Colo –  The DYNAFIT, Mercury Jacket and Pant, has been honored with the 2013 Backpacker Magazine Editors’ Choice Award. This product award is one of the most prestigious in the outdoor industry, given annually in recognition of outstanding innovation in design, materials and performance.

Backpacker Editor-In-Chief Dennis Lewon and his staff of editors and testers presented the Dynafit Mercury Jacket and Pant with the award at the annual Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, Utah on Thursday, August 1st .

The Backpacker Editors’ Choice Award, bestowed annually since 1993, honors the products that Backpacker editors have chosen as the best of the year based on months of winter ski testing by teams of highly experienced skiers and winter thrill seekers. With no set categories for the awards and no set number of recipients, the products and the testing process drive the award categories.

The Dynafit Mercury Jacket and Pant were one of only 13 innovative products honored with a 2013 Backpacker Editors’ Choice Award. Dynafit officially launched its line of full-time backcountry oriented apparel in winter 2010. Despite its infancy in the US, Dynafit pulls upon a rich history among the ranks of the European outdoor community and continues to see a global increase in the demand for its minimalist, high-performance design.

“At any price, their ideal combination of weather protection, breathability, and durability would make them attractive to backcountry skiers and snowshoers”, said Backpacker apparel test manger Kelly Bastone. “But the pieces’ extraordinary value was what really clinched their award status. We felt that the performance they offered equaled (or exceeded) the many higher-priced softshells we tested”.

The Mercury softshell Jacket and Pant, new for Winter ’13, brings all of Dynafit’s technology into one ambitious backcountry focused kit. The Mercury Jacket and Pant proved durable through a full season of abuse. One wearer sums it up “They’re tough and protective, yet light enough for strenuous tours”. Together with its wind resistance, weight (595g) and abrasion resistant fabric, the Mercury collection is redefining how we approach the mountains.

Jim Lamancusa, Sales and Marketing Director adds, “We would like to thank Backpacker Magazine for recognizing the passionate efforts of our entire team, including designers, testers, developers, and manufacturers. This award recognizes the combination of innovation, dedication, and deep experience on our team and we are extremely proud to accept it.”
