Dagger has long been known for making innovative, reliable kayaks for any adventure, and for 2014, the brand introduces the Katana™ multi-water kayak, available in all sizes at retailers starting October 1. The Katana is ideal for adventurers who are interested in the whitewater lifestyle and expedition-style multi-water trips, but who don’t want to limit their kayaking to strictly whitewater.
This boat is designed to inspire confidence in paddlers with a balanced rocker profile for speed on the flats and maneuverability in whitewater. Great for beginner paddlers looking for a kayak that will give them comfort, flexibility and stability, and for intermediate or advanced paddlers needing storage space for multi-day kayak trips and expeditions, the Katana crossover kayak is ideal for up to class III whitewater.
The hull is designed for initial stability while the beveled and flared side-walls create secondary stability. The rounded stern deck shape, taken from the popular Mamba design, sheds water easily, making it forgiving in moving water. The Katana also offers a more spacious cockpit than traditional whitewater designs for a comfortable paddling experience.
Innovative storage and safety options include a comfortable and customizable leg lifter, a streamlined low profile removable bulkhead foot brace system, and a dry stern storage area with an oval hatch for easy access. A large recessed cavity fits a water bottle, throw bag or the included zipper storage bag, offering easy access to personal items. The Katana also includes traditional bow and stern deck bungees, storage straps in front of the paddler, and quick-clip gear loops behind the paddler for securing any loose gear.
Features:
- Roto-Molded storage wall that also supplies additional structure (includes soft case storage bags)
- Hatch and skeg placement maximizes the storage area in the stern
- Drain plug that drains from the cockpit
- Removable BHFB Plate maximizes the storage area in the bow
- Contour Ergo Seating system (leg lifter, hip pads, back & seat padding)
- Rocker profile balanced for speed and maneuverability
