Black Diamond Fall 2014 Collection Wins Over a Dozen Industry Awards

Black Diamond, Inc., a global leading supplier of innovative, high performance, active outdoor and action sports equipment and apparel, collected over a dozen industry and media awards at the recent Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, ISPO Munich and Snowsports Industry America tradeshows

“In our 57 years of innovation, the designers, engineers and employees of Black Diamond have used their firsthand knowledge of climbing, skiing and mountain sports to create next-level products,” said Peter Metcalf, Black Diamond CEO. “Every Black Diamond employee takes pride and shares some credit for the abundance of recognition we’ve received for our forthcoming fall 2014 hardgoods, apparel and safety collections.

At the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, held in Salt Lake City, Utah from January 22-25, JetForce, the first avalanche airbag system to use electronically controlled jet-fan inflation, was awarded “Gear of the Show” by Outside magazine, Men’s Journal, GearJunkie.com and GearInstitute.com. JetForce technology represents Black Diamond’s commitment to the snow safety category and will be available in specific backpacks from Black Diamond, PIEPS and POC in fall 2014.

At ISPO Munich 2014, which took place from January 26-29 and is Europe’s largest tradeshow for the active lifestyle market, Black Diamond, PIEPS, POC and Fritschi Diamir collected six ISPO awards in the ski, outdoor and accessories categories.

Of these six awards, Black Diamond Equipment received two ISPO Gold Awards for its Jetforce technology and one in the accessory apparel category for Cohaesive Embedded Components.

·       ISPO Award Gold Winner in Ski Advanced Avalanche Gear—Black Diamond Equipment Jetforce Technology
·       ISPO Award in Ski Off Piste/All Mountain—Black Diamond Equipment Carbon Megawatt
·       ISPO Award in Ski Touring Equipment—Fritschi Diamir Vipec 12
·       ISPO Award in Helmets—POC Skull Orbic Comp H.I. MIPS
·       ISPO Award Gold Winner in Accessories—Cohaesive Embedded Components (Apparel)
·       ISPO Award in Accessories—POC ICEdot Crash Sensor

At the Snowsports Industry America (SIA) show, held in Denver, Colorado from January 30 to February 2:
-Outside magazine awarded POC with “Gear of the Show” for its Skull Orbic Comp H.I. MIPS helmet and Fritschi Diamir’s VIPEC 12 tech ski binding.
-Skiing Magazine also awarded both the VIPEC 12 and JetForce Technology with its “Hot Gear” award.

Black Diamond’s fall 2014 collection will begin to arrive at specialty retail in late summer 2014.
