The North Face, the world’s premier supplier of authentic, innovative
and technically advanced outdoor apparel, equipment and footwear,
today announced the opening of registration for three additional events
in the six stop series of The North Face Endurance Challenge, presented
by GORE-TEX.
The North American trail race series will feature two new events in
its eighth year: the Endurance Challenge Ontario on July 12-13 and the
Endurance Challenge Park City on October 4-5.
The Ontario, Canada race
will take place at the Blue Mountain Resort located 90 miles outside of
Toronto. The Utah race will take place at the Park City Mountain Resort
located 30 miles outside of Salt Lake City, making the start line the
highest elevation in the series. Both new events will follow the same
two-day format, with race distances ranging from 5K to 50 miles
Hosted by world renowned ultrarunner and The North Face athlete Dean
Karnazes, the series will consist of a total of six events, kicking off
with the New York Race May 3-4 and concluding with the Championship in
California December 6-7. The race series will also include stops in
Washington, DC (June 7-8) and Wisconsin (September 13-14.)
“The response we have had from runners over the past seven years has
been so incredibly positive, we couldn’t be more excited to bring the
same level of experience in trail running to more people in 2014,” said
Katie Ramage, director of Sports Marketing at The North Face. “Expanding
to Utah and Canada keeps the series fresh and allows us to offer new
challenges whether you’re a veteran ultrarunner or new to the sport.”
Each event will be held over two days, with the GORE-TEX 50 Mile,
50K, Marathon, Marathon Relay and Kid’s 1K race held on Saturday, and
the Half Marathon, 10K, 5K races and Kid’s 1K raceheld on Sunday with
support from sponsors, including GORE-TEX, Clif Bar and Smartwool.
The
Endurance Challenge Series will culminate at the Championship event in
