Diamondback wins 2014 Bicycling Magazine Editors’ Choice Award

KENT, Wash. – Diamondback Bicycles, a newcomer to the performance road category, continues to gain traction after winning an Editors’ Choice Award this past week from Bicycling Magazine. The Diamondback Airén 4 Carbon was recognized as the winner of the Women’s Recreational Category. 

The award was announced during Bicycling Magazine’s annual Editors’ Choice ceremony, hosted this past Friday, April 11, at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey Bay, Calif. Three bikes are nominated in each of 23 categories and one bike is chosen from each category to receive the Editors’ Choice Award.

“The Airén felt faster than the other finalists while we were climbing, descending, and even hauling across flat stretches of road,” said one of Bicycling’s testers. “If I had to choose one of these bikes to continue riding all season, the Airén would be the one.”

Diamondback entered the high-performance road market starting in 2013 with its Podium race series. That commitment to performance road has continued with Diamondback’s endurance road category, which includes the men’s Century and women’s Airén lines. In addition to broadening its scope of bikes, Diamondback added a competitive component to its road program by partnering with Optum Pro Cycling presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies for the 2014 season.

The Century and women’s specific Airén are a new series of Endurance road bikes from Diamondback for 2014 aimed at the rider looking for a comfortable body position without sacrificing performance. Both models use Diamondback’s Enhance Performance Geometry that puts the rider in a more upright position, which alleviates strain from the lower neck and back, but is still based off an efficient pedaling platform. The Airén line in particular, uses a women’s specific geometry and is offered in both aluminum and carbon frames that span five models, ranging in price from $700 to $4,000.
