Documentary film on sustainability includes Drydye ® technology
The 45-minute documentary ‘The Next Black’ ( See Below ), a documentary exploring the future of clothing, premiered in London on May 20th and will be released shortly to the public. Home appliance manufacturer AEG, with the goal to anticipate future washing needs and contribute in making the clothing industry more sustainable, produced “The Next Black”.
Featured in the film are heroes of sustainability, Patagonia; tech-clothing giants, Studio XO; sportswear icon, Adidas; Biocouture, a consultancy exploring living organisms to grow clothing and accessories, and The Yeh Group that has pioneered a new way to dye clothes using zero water, Drydye® Technology.
Drydye ® Technology: Ending fashion’s water waste
As the textile industry accounts for 20% of the world’s water pollution, the film looks into new innovations eliminating water and reducing chemicals and energy from textile dyeing. Sophie Mather, Innovation Director of the Yeh Group, explains Drydye™ Technology; a revolutionary new process that uses zero water to dye fabric, eliminating the millions of liters of fresh water consumed annually in the traditional dyeing process.
“Every two years the world uses a Mediterranean Sea’s worth of water to dye clothes. In many countries, textile production is exhausting local clean water supplies and expelling pollutants into the environment. This dire situation has inspired textile innovators, the Yeh Group, to develop a radical alternative. “ –Sophie Mather
Colorful change
This new DryDyeTM Technology method marks an incredible breakthrough for environmental responsibility. It eliminates the need for water, reduces energy consumption by 50%, uses CO2 from the beverage industry as a dye carrier, and stops our reliance on harmful chemicals by only using pure dyestuffs with no additives.
The Yeh Group is a textile technology company located in Thailand that pioneers eco efficient technology, textiles, and garments. Drydye ® technology is a revolutionary dyeing process that produces zero effluent and textiles with pure performance. These clean textiles also have unique performance properties for active apparel.
