Converse teamed Up with renowned Brasilian Artist Eduardo Srur to unveil
a vibrant series of 90 street art installations in Sao Paulo
On Sunday, June 8, Converse unveiled the final output of a special
collaboration with renowned Brasilian street artist Eduardo Srur. The
effort was part of the brand’s Sneakers Clash (#sneakersclash) mission
to unleash the power of color and creativity to combat the gray urban
landscape of Sao Paulo.
Working together for the very first time,
Converse and Eduardo Srur created an engaging series of street
installations labeled “Combata o Cinza” (Fight the Gray) at the iconic
Plaza Roosevelt, where passerby’s were asked to join the fight against
gray by donating their shadows to be outlined and turned into colorful
works of art.
The project first kicked off on June 3, when Eduardo and a
collective of Sao Paulo street artists, spent five days painting a
total of 90 shadows and turning them into lasting statements of color.
At the unveiling, guests flocked to Plaza Roosevelt to witness the
full scale of the “Combata o Cinza” installation in an all-day
celebration of color and creativity.
Through the hashtag #COMBATAOCINZA
people shared their experience and engaged in this collective movement
to fight the gray in the city.
To extend the movement beyond the Plaza Roosevelt and the city of Sao
Paulo, a greater social call-to-action was also implemented, asking
people from all over Brasil to donate their own digital shadows to
Converse. The most original and creative images submitted will be
selected by the artists involved and transformed into colorful digital
art pieces that will be shared across Converse’s social platforms.
