USA Volleyball Partners with VERT Wearable Jump Technology

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 8, 2014 -- USA Volleyball (USAV) and VERT recently announced their new partnership to begin using wearable jump technology for their national team athletes and events. VERT has been designated as a USA Volleyball Official Supplier for Jump Technology.

It's one thing to watch the pure power and athleticism of an elite volleyball player, but to be able to measure their actual performance brings a whole new level of excitement to the sport.

VERT wearable jump technology allows for players and coaches to see real-time jump height and jump count data anywhere and anytime. Think of VERT like a heart rate monitor, but worn around the waist. It is small and discrete, wireless to a smart device, and worn during actual performance or practice. This will be the first time USA Volleyball will use wearable technology to monitor athletic performance.

"The benefits of monitoring our athletes' jump activity and overall performance is something that nobody in the world has been able to do until VERT technology," USA Volleyball Secretary General Kerry Klostermann said. "We are dealing with the highest level of athletes. To be able to measure performance anywhere in the world is an amazing capability."

"VERT is made in the USA, and now it is going to be worn by Team USA," VERT founder Martin Matak said. "It can't get any better than that. We are thrilled to be part of our home team."

The addition of VERT to Team USA will be used for injury prevention, the monitoring of player load and the evaluation of high performance tryouts.

New opportunities

USA volleyball will now have the ability to measure athletes' jump height, average jump height, amount of jumps and more – all in real-time. The awareness and understanding of athletic load is crucial to maximizing the highest potential of athletes, as well as preventing injuries. VERT gives coaches and players the opportunity to manage and measure performance.
