The Julien David Quiksilver partnership will span three years

Julien David and Quiksilver are pleased to announce that they have collaborated on a capsule collection first focusing on men’s board shorts, as well as wetsuits, rashguards, and T-shirts. The styles launched on June 25th 2014 as part of the Julien David Spring 2015 show in Paris.

This collection marks the first ongoing fashion partnership in Quiksilver’s history. “I am extremely happy to collaborate with the most renowned surfwear brand in the world,” says Julien. “I grew up wearing Quiksilver clothes and dreaming of this Californian lifestyle.”

"We are very excited about our partnership with Julien David," says Quiksilver's CEO Andy Mooney. "Julien has a progressive and unconventional outlook on fashion and we anticipate our collaboration to bring new consumers to Action Sports."

Board shorts have become an iconic piece of Quiksilver’s surfwear culture, having developed them forty years ago at the brand’s launch in the 1970s. Inclusion of board shorts in this capsule collection reflects the brand’s deeply rooted heritage, extending beyond the pieces themselves. Julien David’s designs will incorporate Quiksilver’s new eco-driven production methods combined with their AG47 hi-tech finishes that compliment his progressive approach to fashion.

JULIEN DAVID QUIKSILVER is a partnership that will span over the course of three years and will redefine the relationship between surfwear and high fashion. The first collection will launch in stores in January 2015 with the timing of Spring 2015 at select international retailers.

ABOUT JULIEN DAVID

Born in Paris in 1978, Julien David moved to New York at the age of 19 where he attended Parson’s School of Design. As a student, he began working for Narciso Rodriguez and eventually became his direct design assistant, a role he assumed for the following three years. He then joined the Ralph Lauren design team and was put in charge of tailored pieces for the Ladies Purple Label Collection. In 2006, Julien moved to Tokyo where he worked on various independent design projects and eventually founded his own brand a year later. By the time he designed his third collection, Julien was awarded the prestigious Andam Grand Prix in 2012.

Julien’s aesthetic is defined by the unexpected mix of various materials and draws its inspiration from specific sub cultures, focusing on those of the urban world.  His collections are currently carried in his store in Tokyo as well as Colette, Dover Street Market, Le Bon Marche, Isetan and over one hundred retailers around the world.
