Boulder, Colorado - After a successful global launch of its BEAST 16 free touring binding in 2013, DYNAFIT has officially earned the “TÜV Certified” quality seal based on DIN ISO 13992 standards.
TÜV Süd, a global technical examination and safety certification agency – which substantively approved the binding’s safety release performance this past spring – has now made the certification official, thus guaranteeing appropriate release values as compared to traditional alpine ski bindings.
This certification confirms the BEAST 16 is the world’s first DIN-certified frameless touring binding to enter the market.
Since it debuted in the fall of 2013, the award-winning BEAST 16 has received numerous accolades from Backcountry Magazine, Powder Magazine, Outside Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Freeskier Magazine, and an array of trusted online media sources. In the various reviews, the BEAST 16 has been touted as a touring-capable Freeride binding offering optimal performance on ski descents thanks to an industry-leading release value of 16 and a low stack height, combined with an easy and comfortable frameless system ski ascents.
The industry-leading, proven (and often copied) DYNAFIT frameless system, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, reduces the “lifted” weight for each uphill stride and offers optimal pivot point placement. DYNAFIT’s decision to equip the tried-and-tested system with necessary handling characteristics for Freeride descents was a logical one. The BEAST 16 is equipped with a sophisticated release mechanism. It releases both at the toe piece and heel unit, plus the rotating toe piece is constructed to resist early release from lateral impacts. With its particularly low stack height of 17 mm at the toe and 23 mm at the heel, skiers benefit from near-perfect contact with the ski. Additionally, the BEAST 16 offers high torsional stability thanks to its wide base plate and low ramp angle for fluid ski performance.

Freeride pro and DYNAFIT athlete Eric ‘Hoji’ Hjorleifson has tested the binding extensively and is enthusiastic about this next-generation of the Tourlite Tech Series, noting: “Today’s skiers need gear that achieves the highest performance whether they’re jumping, skiing in-bounds, or headed into the backcountry.”
