"At Lifetime Products, we are proud to celebrate Made in America month, a tradition set by President Reagan in 1986, the same year as Lifetime's inception," said President and CEO of Lifetime Products, Richard Hendrickson. "As a proud U.S. manufacturer of 1,600 strong, we strive to manufacture products where it makes sense. Making products domestically allows us to take better care of our people and their families, shorten our lead times, improve our quality quicker, and ultimately get a product to the consumer at the lowest possible price, shortest amount of lead time, and least amount of waste throughout the process."
In 1986 President Ronald Reagan proclaimed December to be National Made in America Month to encourage consumers and workers alike to "observe this month with appropriate programs and activities to recognize and celebrate the excellence of American products." Made in America Month has since become a proud tradition that highlights the hard work and ingenuity of American workers and the products they make right here at home. Many political leaders praise the focus of U.S. manufacturing, saying:
"Domestic manufacturing is the foundation of the U.S. economy," said Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert. "More than 95 percent of Americans have favorable views of American-made products with good reason. In celebration of Made in America Month, we are proud to acknowledge Utah's own Lifetime Products as an excellent example of quality American manufacturing."
"Made in America is a worthy effort to improve our economy and highlight some of the best of what America has to offer. Our country has a rich and diverse array of businesses that are a testament to both our creativity and our free-market economy. I appreciate the effort to show off what Americans can do," said United States Senator Mike Lee.
"United States manufacturers are global leaders in productivity and product quality and companies like Lifetime Products illustrate the excellence found in products made in America. As one of Utah's premier manufacturing companies, Lifetime Products continues to represent the state on a global stage as a leader in innovation and ingenuity," said Congressman Rob Bishop.
"Utah manufacturers have a tradition of making innovative high-quality products, and I'm happy to recognize Made in America Month and those Utah companies that maintain that tradition. They help make Utah's economy one of the best in the country," said Congressman Chris Stewart.
