Black Diamond Launches Mobile Avalanche Apps for Colorado, Utah and the Northwest

January 27, 2015 (Salt Lake City, Utah) — Black Diamond Equipment^®, a global innovator in climbing, skiing, mountain sports equipment and apparel, announces the launch of its partnership with the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC), Northwest Avalanche Center (NWAC) and Utah Avalanche Center (UAC). With the support of Black Diamond Equipment, each avalanche center introduces its own mobile application designed to promote local avalanche awareness.

 Each mobile application will consolidate avalanche, weather, road conditions and slope information offering their respective backcountry ski communities with an array of information including:

• Daily avalanche advisories in the corresponding CAIC, NWAC and UAC regions
• Daily field observations from avalanche forecasters and the community of backcountry skiers
• Mountain weather information including forecasts, satellite loops, radar, and web cams
• An email form to share your observations with these respective avalanche centers
