2015 Struktur Creative Conference Opens Registration

Second Annual Forum for Active Outdoor Design Professionals to Be Held

May 7^th & 8^th in Portland, Oregon

(PORTLAND, OR) February 18, 2015 –  Struktur Event (Struktur), the creative conference  for active, outdoor and urban design, returns for its second year with registration officially open. Struktur is designed as a cross-disciplinary event that explores the intersection of user experience, trend research, materials science, and their influence on design.

Struktur offers a combination of visionary presentations and social events to help advance the design of active outdoor apparel and equipment. Struktur will be held on May 7 – 8, 2015 at the Ecotrust Building in Portland, Oregon’s famed Pearl District.

This season, the conference explores the themes of Design Leadership and Design Communication.  Sessions will cover several topics, including: becoming a design leader, building and sustaining a creative team, reaching the new outdoor consumer and navigating the new selling environment, among others. 

Presenters come from a mix of new and established brands, and work on large teams, small teams and even independently. Keynote presenters include: David Sherwin, author of Success by Design, a teacher of design leadership; Johanna Blakely, managing director and director of research at the Norman Lear Center, who led research on the impact of intellectual property rights on innovation and creativity in the fashion industry; and Benji Wagner,  founder of Poler Outdoor Stuff. The creative minds at Nau, Swift Industries, Range, Gear Commons, Carryology, Giro, Snow Peak, Shwood, Topo Designs, The Mountain Lab, and more will lead additional sessions.

In addition to the presentation series, several networking events will be held within walking distance to the event venue and hotel partner, Hotel Deluxe. Join in the evenings for a happy hour hosted by Snow Peak at Snow Peak flagship store, an industry social at the University of Oregon Innovation Lab, and a closing party hosted by Poler Outdoor Stuff at the Poler flagship store.
