The store, set to open in August, marks the start of a programme of expansion being undertaken by the Arc’teryx which will see the brand open a limited number of flagship stores in key international cities.
The letting also kicks off a three year investment programme in London by Arc’teryx’s parent company, Amer Sports Group, which will see it focus on its retail partners through increased trade marketing spend, increased investment in in-store excellence and increased resource (Sell-through / Visual Merchandising) across a range of brands, including winter sports retailer Salomon and technical sports instrument supplier Suunto.
Anthea Harries, St James’s portfolio manager at The Crown Estate said: “Arc’teryx is a wonderful addition to the retail offer on Piccadilly, where our revitalisation of this important gateway to St James’s has delivered an eclectic mix of high quality lifestyle and fashion brands, which includes UK firsts from Barbour International and Tiger of Sweden.
“Attracting brands of this quality sets a fantastic tone for our on-going investment in creating distinctive retail experiences in St James’s which reflect the area’s unique heritage, sense of luxury and reputation for the highest levels of craftsmanship and design.”
Adam David Ketcheson, VP/ Senior Director Marketing and B2C Arc’teryx said: “As we look to expand our retail presence we are focused on cities and regions where both our outdoor core community and our city-based user can touch the brand. London has an active community who deal with the challenges of inclement weather. It’s also a hub of fashion and design, and the minimalist aesthetic of Arc’teryx fits perfectly into the London environment and the UK outdoor community at large. At St. James our customer will be able to experience our commitment to design, craftsmanship and performance through our product, technologies and people.”
Domenico Speciale, Amer Sports UK Managing Director added: “There is significant potential for future growth in London and a flagship Arc’teryx store in a renowned location like St James’s will act as a fantastic showcase for the brand as we look to increase our investment in this key market.”
Eagle Place, is the first major redevelopment to be delivered through The Crown Estate’s £500m, 10 year investment programme for its St James’s portfolio, a key part of which includes improving the retail offer by providing new, modern accommodation for leading brands which reflect the area’s unique character and heritage.
Arc’teryx will occupy over 4,000 sq ft at 211-214 Piccadilly, further enhancing the location’s fast growing reputation as a natural home for world leading fashion and lifestyle retailing. Retailers which have already opened UK or international flagship stores at Eagle Place include the likes of Barbour International, Tiger of Sweden, Sunspel, Grosvenor Shirts and most recently, polo lifestyle brand, La Martina.
