New era in technologically advanced mountain footwear
“’Moving into footwear was a natural progression for Arc’teryx. We were simply ready to provide a genuine innovation to footwear consistent with Arc’teryx design DNA. We are applying what we have learned in our 25 years experience of equipment and apparel design, materials and construction into footwear”, said Vincent Wauters, General Manager, Arc’teryx Equipment Inc. and President of Apparel at Amer Sports.“Feedback has been good from both the industry and our consumers, both stressing how genuinely true to the Arc’teryx DNA our shoe design is. As we continue to develop our footwear line we will stick to our brand value and relentlessly pursue perfection”, Wauters continues.
“From the very beginning, our goal was to bring a fresh perspective to footwear that enhances the overall mountain experience. We have a rich history of thinking beyond current materials and construction and everything about these shoes reveals the Arc’teryx genetic code of understanding what a product needs to be at its most essential level”, said Federico Sbrissa, Arc’teryx Footwear Product Line Manager.
“By incorporating techniques like lamination, we developed shoes that offer unprecedented durability, comfort and precision performance in the most breathable mountain footwear construction on the market."
Growing faster in softgoods
Since 2010, growing faster in softgoods has been one of Amer Sports’
five strategic priorities. For Footwear, the role in Amer Sports
portfolio is to further accelerate profitable growth. The strategy has
been successful: in the years 2010-2014, Amer Sports Footwear annual
average growth rate has been 16% with high profitability.
“Our recipe is the following: first, we keep in mind that every shoe
is a piece of sports equipment", said Jean-Marc Pambet, President of
Amer Sports Footwear in an interview in August 2014.“Second, we believe in a consumer-centric approach driven by innovation, helping the sport’s practice progress. Combined with a strong design identity connected to the brand DNA, the opportunity for diverted use and, last but not least, the fundamentals of quality and fit.”
