June 16, 2015 (ROCKFORD, Mich.) – Chaco is opening its first-ever pop-up retail store in Chicago in concert with the Grateful Dead’s Fare Thee Well
shows at Soldier Field. The store will open at Timbuk2’s Bucktown
location, June 22-July 6, and will feature the brand’s limited-edition
“Dancing Bears” and “Steal Your Face” Grateful Dead sandals.
Last month, Chaco introduced two sandal options
featuring the band’s iconic Dancing Bears and Steal Your Face designs.
The limited-edition sandals sold out in a matter of hours on Chacos.com.
“Our
store activation in Chicago gives us a great opportunity to celebrate
with Deadheads and also to engage a broader consumer group in a key
market,” says Josh Weichhand, Chaco’s brand marketing manager. “The
store concept marries classic Deadhead psychdelia with a modern design
aesthetic to create a retail concept that we think is really unique.”
Chaco
will host a launch party at the pop-up store on the evening of Monday,
June 22, which will include a DJ, beer provided by local brewery,
Revolution Brewing Company, and appetizers supplied by local vendors.
Chaco's Fit for Adventure national tour
will also make a stop at Soldier Field’s vendor area during the
Grateful Dead concerts, featuring a booth with product try-ons,
sweepstakes entries, and giveaways.
