Adina Jacobs and Ethan Nyholm |
Adina Jacobs and Ethan Nyholm, founders of STM Bags, have been named as a nominee in the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” Awards Australia.
Adina and Ethan will join other outstanding entrepreneurs from across Australia competing for the prize of being named “2013 Australian Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year.”
The 2013 nominee field includes an elite group of 84 entrepreneurs from a diverse range of sectors including renewable energy, pet products, media and entertainment, biotech, construction and childcare.
The only truly global program of its kind, the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur Of The Year” is considered the world’s most prestigious business award, with entrepreneurs participating from more than 140 cities in more than 50 countries. The overall Australian winner will have the opportunity to travel to Monte Carlo in 2014 to represent Australia at the World Entrepreneur Of The Year awards.
In 1998, at age 23 and 28, Adina and Ethan left positions in the fashion industry to take advantage of a gap in the digital protection market. “We set out to make a super protective laptop bag that didn’t necessarily look like a laptop bag,” explained Ethan. “Today, we see ourselves as the IT specialists for the bag market and the lifestyle specialists for the IT market,” added Adina.
Over the last four years, STM has experienced rapid growth with compound annual growth rates of over 50% during this period. With the credo “Do unto others...”, Adina and Ethan believe in creating a strong corporate culture focusing on customer service. STM Bags currently has offices in Australia, the US, the UK, China and India. In 2012, the company was awarded “Apple Accessory Manufacturer of the Year” as voted for by iLounge®, an independent source of information about computer accessories.
Bryan Zekulich, Ernst & Young Oceania “Entrepreneur Of The Year” leader, said this year’s crop of nominees represented some of the most dynamic business leaders in Australia today.
“Entrepreneurs are passionate and innovative individuals who make a significant contribution to the Australian business community, creating jobs, boosting our economy and inspiring others to reach their potential,” Zekulich said.
The Australian regional awards will be announced on August 29th, 2013, with those winners going on to compete for national honors in Sydney at the end of November.
