Business news : Grain Surfboards Returns to San Clemente for Round Two of Traveling Classes at Surfing Heritage & Culture Center

This past February, Grain Surfboards flew to California, pulled together all the necessary tools and materials, and led a 4-day surfboard building class within the historic walls of the Surfing Heritage & Culture Center in San Clemente. Now they are heading west this July to do it again, July 31st through August 3rd.

Like the first time, this 4-day class includes the full course of instruction, use of tools, all the supplies and materials and two meals a day.  Each student walks away with their own board ready-to-glass. Grain even throws in all of the glassing supplies and instructions plus a free membership to the Surfing Heritage & Culture Center.

One great addition to this summer’s class is that Grain plans to combine this trip with a 2 week demo tour around Southern California. Those who have wanted to get on Grain boards and haven’t had the chance, will now have an opportunity.

During the first class this past Feburary, Jen Smith, former surfer for Roxy, was able to attend and build a Paipo, she recently shared her experience- “Building a wooden surfboard in the museum next to all the original chambered boards and other relics was a pretty special experience. The guys were super helpful and really know their stuff. My board came out looking so beautiful and I can’t wait to glass it and get it in the water.”

The class is only open to six students – spots fill up quickly. Registration is currently open.
