9th January – Costa Mesa, California
Element has been awarded “Best Team” at one of skateboarding’s biggest events – the TWS Awards in Long Beach California.
“Element has consistently assembled some of the greatest lineups of
pros and ams since its inception,” noted the TWS judging panel. “But its
2013 squad which included bar-raising contributions from Nyjah,
Appleyard, Tim Tim, Davidson the addition of Greyson Fletcher, opening
its Branch HQ in Costa Mesa, and releasing Brian Gaberman’s photo book
rounds out an incredible year.” Said Element brand founder Johnny Schillereff: “We’re very proud of the team that waves the Element flag every day.”
Over the course of the year a series of videos were released that
showcased the team’s talent. “Nyjah Huston set the new tone in “Fade to
Black,” Mark Appleyard showed his iconic style in “Soul Rebel,” Chad Tim
Tim displayed his finesse and technical abilities in “Transmission,”
Julian Davidson ended “Perpetual Motion” with a jaw dropping part, and
Evan Smith continued to amaze with ”The Evan Smith Experience,” said
Johnny”. Other stand out moments include the addition of Greyson
Fletcher to the team Tom Schaar cementing his place in skate history
with the first ever 1080,” he added.
The TransWorld Skateboarding Awards are now in their 16th year and
recognise excellence, innovation and creativity across a range of
categories.
Founded in 1992 Element recently opened an innovative new Campus, the
Branch, in Costa Mesa, California. The loft like creative space which
will include a public art gallery, skatepark, urban gardens and host
community events, farmers markets and more. All in the spirit of further
developing skateboarding along with social, and environmental
awareness.
“It has been a year of renewal and re-energising for the brand,” said
Johnny. “We’ve happily made some internal appointments including
long-time friend and colleague Travis Ford who has joined the family as
VP/GM, in addition to a reinvigoration to our long-standing commitment
to the natural world and the skate community. We’re calling this
Element’s re-forestation.”
