PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 5, 2014 -- Danner is proud to introduce the women's Mountain Light Cascade, a boot starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in the Fox Searchlight Pictures release, Wild, based on the New York Times best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed. The film, which follows Strayed's journey on the Pacific Crest Trail, debuts today in New York and Los Angeles and on December 12, 2014 at theaters nationwide.
The Mountain Light Cascade is currently on sale in stores and online and retails for $299. The boot is a tribute to one of Danner's iconic hiking styles introduced in the early 1970's – a style that is believed by many to be the greatest backpacking boot of all time.
Made in the USA at Danner's Portland, Ore. factory, the Mountain Light Cascade features a full-grain leather upper and 100% waterproof breathable lining. The boot is outfitted with retro-inspired flat red laces and a rugged Vibram Kletterlift outsole, perfect for outdoor or casual use.
The boot will be packaged in a vintage-style Danner box – the exact replica Danner used in 1995, the year Cheryl Strayed set off on her Pacific Crest Trail adventure. Included will be a sew-on patch that features an image of Oregon's Mt. Hood and the Pacific Crest Trail mile marker 2,096 – the gateway to Mt. Hood National Forest.
The Mountain Light Cascade will be featured in the Fall / Winter 2014 Danner Stumptown collection and will be available at REI, Urban Outfitters, James Perse, Danner stores and danner.com/wild.

ABOUT WILD
After years of reckless behavior, a heroin addiction and the destruction of her marriage, Cheryl Strayed (Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon) made a rash decision. Haunted by memories of her mother Bobbi (Academy Award nominee Laura Dern) and with absolutely no experience, she set out to hike more than 1000 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail all on her own. Wild powerfully reveals her terrors and pleasures — as she forges ahead on a journey that maddens, strengthens, and ultimately heals her.
Director: Jean-Marc Vallee; Story by: Cheryl Strayed; Screenplay: Nick Hornby; Released by: Fox Searchlight Pictures; Producers: Reese Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea and Bill Pohlad
