Head warned that its sales should shrink in the second half of the year, as the weak sell-out of winter sports products in the last season was expected to cause a substantial decline in the international ski market this year. The Austrian company said that this was affecting its pre-orders of winter sports products. However, the group managed a sales increase of 17.1 percent to €70.1 million for the first quarter, due to a rebound in its racquet sports business. Sales in this division jumped by 21.3 percent to €42.2 million, aided by favorable weather and product launches. Head ended the quarter with a net loss of €2.2 million, compared with a loss of €7.7 million for the same period last year.
