Outerwear in the elite Dawn Patrol Collection showcases Schoeller stretch-woven textiles, NanoSphere®, and c_change™.
September, 2013 The collaboration between Schoeller and Black Diamond
highlights one of the most anticipated apparel collections for the
alpine lifestyle. Black Diamond’s Dawn Patrol Collection offers superior
protection and performance that lasts season after season thanks to
Schoeller.
Schoeller, the Swiss innovative textile company, is very pleased with
the collaboration for the Dawn Patrol collection. The collection is
built of Schoeller stretch-woven textiles that are very durable,
abrasion resistant, hold their shape wear-after-wear, and are
lightweight and breathable. Every piece features NanoSphere®, a
top-performing and longest-lasting solution for repelling water, dirt
and oil. The Dawn Patrol Hybrid Shell also features the c_change™
membrane for body-mapped protection from the elements that is water- and
windproof in the places most needed for big days in the mountains.
The Schoeller and Black Diamond relationship began in 1999, in a
collaboration to create the iconic Alpine pant and shirt and the B.V.D.
pant. In the intervening years, many climbers who loved these items for
their durability and performance have turned to Schoeller asking, “When
will they make more?”
"I am very pleased that Black Diamond has selected Schoeller as a
partner in their new apparel collection," says Tom Weinbender, President
of Schoeller Textil USA. "Over the years I have spoken with Peter
Metcalf about doing an apparel line and he always said: 'When we decide
to do apparel, we will be 100% committed to doing it right.' Now that
time is here for Schoeller to partner with Black Diamond, who has a
proven history of excellence and success. It is very exciting to work
with a company that has the same values in terms of bringing the most
advanced technologies and fabrics to market, which provide the ultimate
in performance as well as style.” Additionally, Black Diamond recognized
that Schoeller is a leader in manufacturing according to the bluesign®
standard and in that, a partnership that promotes environmentalism
through engineering was born.
It is no coincidence that Schoeller is the fabric of the Dawn Patrol
collection. At Black Diamond, the employees’ dawn patrol sessions are
the proving ground for each piece of gear they make. It was during these
pre-work outings that they tested the mettle of Schoeller and found its
performance and protection to be worthy of a premium collection for the
company’s heralded apparel launch this season. The collection features
seven pieces: three jackets and four pants. The breathability and
durability make for comfortable mountain ascents and descents.
Additionally, Black Diamond offers the Post-Op hoody made of
schoeller-naturetec®. This wool-faced soft-shell jacket is perfect for
après.
