This is the landmark for the firm development of Honda Vietnam and also persuasive proof for the commitment of long-term and sustainable investment by Honda in Vietnam.
I. OPENING PISTON WORKSHOP
On March 20th, 2014, Honda Vietnam opens the first Piston workshop in Vietnam. Improving localization rate in order to create new products with competitive price, at the same time make contribution to the development of supporting industries is the target of Honda Vietnam over the past years. Besides the development of supplier network nationwide, Honda Vietnam also tries its best to gradually increase the localization rate for its products.
After the opening of casting workshop for engine details and sintering workshop, the official operation of Piston workshop will help Honda Vietnam increase the localization rate of products and create foundation for export activities.
Piston production workshop is built on an area of more than 3,000 m2, which is in the campus of Honda Vietnam factory in Phuc Thang – Phuc Yen – Vinh Phuc province.
With total investment of nearly VND 230 billion, Honda Vietnam’s piston workshop is designed with a maximum capacity of 2.4 million units/year and it was put into official operation on April 1, 2014.
Together with the engine casting workshop with a capacity of 2 million units/year, a sintering workshop with a capacity of up to 2.3 million units/year, and a spare parts center with a large total area and investment yet to be put into operation, the official operation of the piston workshop will be the next step for the accomplishment of infrastructure, creating a firm foundation for local manufacturing and export expansion.
II. 15 MILLIONTH MOTORCYCLE UNIT MANUFACTURED
Being established in 1996, Honda Vietnam finished the first bike in 1997. Since then, Honda Vietnam has experienced memorable historic landmark such as anniversary ceremony for the 5 millionth bike held in July, 2008 and the 10 millionth bike capacity anniversary held in September, 2011 and the anniversary ceremony for the 15 millionth bikes on March 21th, 2014.
The 15 millionth MC unit is an Air Blade. Air Blade is firstly launched in Vietnam market in April, 2007 and becomes the leading model in the market.
After nearly 7 years, Air Blade brings success to Honda in Vietnam market with accumulated sales of up to more than 2 million units.
On this occasion, Honda Vietnam would like to send its grateful words to all Vietnam customers who give great support and trust to Honda Vietnam products over the past years. Honda Vietnam will continue to strive to better serve the customers’ demands, not only meeting the customers’ demands in a timely and professional manner but also bringing customers products of best quality.
Honda Vietnam aims to enhance exports in order to reach the target to turn Vietnam into a motorcycle export centre of Honda. In 2013, Honda Vietnam has exported to foreign countries 40,000 units and export target in 2014 will be 100,000 units.
There are a lot of difficulties facing Honda Vietnam ahead, however, with the valuable trust and support from customers, Honda Vietnam will keep trying to best serve customers’ demands, contributing to the common development and prosperity of Vietnam country.
