Company takes investment from Recruit Strategic Partners to fuel growth, launches fitmob app for Android
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 25, 2014 -- Today fitmob is adding gyms to its "All You Can Sweat" Passport, which provides members with unlimited access to the top fitness experiences in their city. Now members of the fitmob community can workout on-demand simply by opening up the app or Website on their mobile phone. fitmob's new app, available today for iOS and Android, provides an easy-to-use map view that allows members to instantly find and book gym access nearby. In support of ongoing growth which includes several thousand new members in SF and Seattle in a single week, fitmob also raised additional funding from global marketplace expert Recruit Strategic Partners.
fitmob shakes up up the legacy gym model by empowering fitness enthusiasts to get out and explore the best classes and gyms their city has to offer. Variety is key to staying motivated, and Passport's unlimited model lets members workout as much as they want at partner studios and gyms, choosing from thousands of options, for just $99 per month. Currently available in the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle, with more cities coming soon, members now have access to nearly 100 partner gyms and studios through the fitmob website, iOS or Android app. Current Gym partners include Studiomix, World Gym, LiveFit, Kentfield Fitness, Fitness SF, Body Kinetics in Marin and The Seattle Gym, one of the nation's leading gyms - with more coming online every week.
"Fitness SF is excited to partner with FitMob to provide even more opportunities to its fast growing user base. With six exceptional high-energy gyms located throughout the Bay Area, we will offer state of the art gym facilities and 100's of additional classes to fitmob members each week," said Zsolt Jackovics founder/owner of Fitness SF. "We are passionate about the health and wellness of our community and this is an excellent opportunity to drive that message forward."
Passport is a win-win for both fitmob and its partners. Studios and gyms fill up classes and open gym space while gaining exposure to fitmob's community, thus generating more revenue for small businesses. With Passport, users don't need to juggle multiple studio and gym membership or deal with the hassle that comes with registration fees and payments for each.
"We know the world of fitness is bigger than group workouts; there are 58 million people who use the gym annually, and we realize that sometimes people prefer to get in some speed intervals on the treadmill on their own schedule, or to meet a friend at the gym for strength training. By adding gyms to Passport, we open up the fitmob platform to fans of studios and gyms alike, so they can explore the best fitness in their city - all for the same affordable price," said Raj Kapoor, CEO and co-founder of fitmob. "With Passport you just open up the fitmob app, find the gym or class that fits your needs, and walk in like you are a regular with full access to all the amenities, making fitmob the most complete fitness experience around."
The fitmob app version 2.0 brings a "Lyft/Uber-like" approach to spontaneously finding and signing up for classes or gym time through a visual map that shows workout options nearby. In addition, the app shows users how many miles they are from each class when they select "browse" view. The mobile app and website also provide a class overview, workout format, intensity level, community reviews, which mobbers are attending, and amenities.
To fuel its momentum, fitmob teamed up with Recruit Strategic Partners, a global marketplace expert generating $10.2 billion in sales across 16 different countries and markets, as a strategic growth partner. The funding will be used for expansion as fitmob adds new studios, gyms, trainers, and cities to its Passport offering, empowering people to workout however, whenever, and wherever they want.
Download the fitmob iOS app , Android app, or go to fitmob.com on a desktop to instantly get your Passport. Studios or trainers that are interested in partnering with fitmob on its 'All You Can Sweat' Passport should email partners@fitmob.com .
