The free app is designed to fit the on-the-go lifestyle of today’s sports fan, featuring exclusive trending content presented in a quick, easy-to-digest format. Fans will also enjoy the app’s “Best. Scoreboard. Ever,” a dynamic feature that provides a ranked list of the live events worth watching, why they can’t be missed, and where they can be seen. In-progress notifications will ensure that fans never miss a buzzy moment again.
“Helping busy fans navigate the fear of missing out on current trends and can't-miss moments is essential for the social-mobile age,” said Mark Pesavento, VP of digital strategy for USA TODAY Sports. “Consumers have so many options for news and information, yet so few of them solve a fan's most basic problem: What do I need to know right now so I don't miss out on what everyone else is talking about, or will be talking about?”
Additional features of the USA TODAY Sports mobile app include:
- Easily shared content – Whether quotes from outspoken athletes, stunning images from photo galleries, insightful data visualizations or funny GIFs, sports fans can share the content with ease.
- Formatted for today’s busy lifestyle – Scores, schedules, and statistics that fans expect from a sports app are integrated in a clean, simple way.
- Feedback that matters – Opportunity for app users to easily make feature requests and provide input directly to editors.
As Americans spend 60 percent of their digital media time on mobile (ComScore), the USA TODAY Sports mobile app is intended to engage with the brand’s core audience on their smartphones, while attracting a new generation of young, tech-savvy sports fans by putting them at the center of the sports conversation.
“The launch of our mobile app is a great opportunity for us to engage fans that are getting their sports news from mobile devices more than ever before,” said Dave Morgan, President of the USA TODAY Sports Media Group. “We believe fans will enjoy the entertaining approach and curated news that can be experienced through multiple perspectives and bold visuals.”
