Business news : OGIO Reports Double-Digit Gains in Golf

OGIO International, the designer of golf bags, apparel and accessories, reports its golf sales revenue grew 48 percent in 2012. As evidenced by the strong activity in the OGIO booth during the 2013 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla., future order backlog grew by 68 percent thus far in 2013.

The company's focus on providing designer label fashions in its golf bag and apparel collections has been the catalyst for this rapid growth trend that began three years ago.

"OGIO saw another extremely strong year in 2012, "said Tony Palma, CEO, OGIO International. "The growth of our brand presence in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Australia is sparked by our new fashion-forward styles and innovative products. Consumers have been very receptive to our focus of bringing runway styles to the fairway in both our golf bag and apparel collections."

Sales growth in 2012 was driven by OGIO's newly launched apparel collections and its premier line up of golf bags. Its award-winning golf bag collections, which include unique innovations specially engineered by OGIO, is led by the Chamber golf bag with its Silencer Club Protection System. Another OGIO innovation is its SHOXX X4 Suspension System, which consists of two integrated, adjustable elastomeric straps that absorb the downward pull from the weight of the golf bag. This technology is included on multiple bags, including the Recoil, Grom XX, Ozone XX, and Hauler.

In addition, OGIO's limited edition fashion designs have also contributed to a rise in sales. The company's new apparel collection received immediate acceptance in the top 100 premium golf shops including Pebble Beach, Doral, Kapalua, Baltusrol and many other destination golf courses. Fashion-forward pro golfers Aaron Baddeley and Ben Kohles are wearing OGIO's fashions in PGA play this season.

OGIO also launched its newest innovation, the X4 Synergy Sport Cart, which provides the ability to fold and unfold the cart with a golf bag attached in less than three seconds. This allows for combined storage of the golf bag and cart, reducing the amount of space needed in the trunk of a car or garage by 30 percent.
