Retail news : Lids Acquires Canada's Game On Sports

Lids Sports Group announced its acquisition of Canadian-based Game On Sports, a licensed apparel, headwear and novelty retailer. Established in 1994, and carrying the Game On Sports banner since 2000, Game On Sports primary focus has been NHL jerseys and headwear. Lids Sports Group will assume ownership of seven brick and mortar stores in Alberta and British Columbia, as well as the e-commerce website, www.GameOnSports.ca.

“The acquisition of Game On Sports further solidifies our Canadian presence and especially provides Lids Sports Group a good foothold in British Columbia and Alberta,” said Ken Kocher, President of Lids Sports Group. “These additional locations tie in well with our sports fan retail focus that spans across North America.”
