Shortly after its introduction in the fall of 2013 Salted Caramel has become the fastest-selling GU Energy Gel on record.

To give back some of this love to its customers, GU Energy and the guardian of all things Salted Caramel, the Salty Yeti, have hidden a small number of special, gold-colored packets of Salted Caramel Gel into select boxes of eight and twenty-four.

Any customer that finds a Golden Packet will win a free 24-pack of Salted Caramel energy gel from GU and be entered to win the campaign’s grand prize: an all-inclusive trip for two for three days and two nights to San Francisco.  The promotional period started January 21st and runs through March 28th, 2014.

Lauren O’Connor, GU Energy’s Director of Marketing, said, “It’s a take on a classic favorite golden ticket contest, except with Salted Caramel.  We’ve had such an overwhelming response since introducing Salted Caramel.  The contest is a great way to get fans involved.”

O’Connor is featured in the first video, shot in the GU Headquarters, which outlines the promotion.
The video page also has a redemption form for anyone who finds a golden packet, which are available in eight packs and twenty-four packs of Salted Caramel at retailers throughout the United States and on GU’s website.

Driving the success of the Salted Caramel introduction is its savory taste that balances the sweetness of caramel with elevated electrolytes.  Like all GU energy gels, Salted Caramel provides quick and sustained energy through a blend of fructose and maltodextrin, as well as GU’s proprietary amino acid blend and antioxidants.
