RSI, which recently relocated to Montana, aims to keep skateboards out of landfills by recycling them into artwork including jewelry, home décor and other accessories. Husband and wife skateboarders Devin and Lisa Kelley, started the company in Phoenix in 2012 following inspiration from making a birdhouse out of a skateboard for their son’s kindergarten project. Murawski and Wilt believe in the cause.
“I've gone through hundreds of boards in my 20 years of skateboarding,” said Wilt. “I'm proud to be working with people who find such great uses for an otherwise destroyed piece of wood.”
Murawski agrees.
“With the amount of boards that are being skated and then disregarded, it feels good to be to be a part of something that shows people it is more than trash,” he said. “A battered board can be used in creative ways to make it just as useful as its intended purpose."
The brand advocates will help raise awareness for RSI by sporting its new line of apparel including t-shirts, hats and beanies. All are available in men’s and women’s sizes.
