Surfing America and Islands Restaurants announce partnership for 2014

San Clemente CA -  Surfing America, the International Surfing Association recognized National Governing Body of the sport of surfing, is pleased to announce its sponsorship agreement with Islands Restaurants.

Islands Restaurants will be the official restaurant of Surfing America, Surfing America Prime West Coast, Surfing America USA Championships and the Surfing America USA Surf Teams.

In addition to monetary support, Islands Restaurants will have a “pop up” restaurant at the Surfing America USA Championships at Lower Trestles, San Onofre State Beach, and will be grilling delicious surf-inspired burgers for all contestants and staff on June 20 and June 21.

Burgers will also be available to spectators for a small donation to the USA Surf Team.  Islands will also provide gift cards to all competitors, prizes for beach give-aways and gift cards to 1st – 4th place finishers in the Under 18 Shortboard divisions on June 21.

Islands will support the Surfing America Prime West Coast Surf Series monetarily and by providing gift cards for finalists, and when possible, Islands will grill burgers for competitors during the events.  Islands Restaurants will be the official restaurant of the USA Surf Team, whose meetings and autograph signings will take place at various Islands Restaurant locations on the west coast.

Additionally, video from USA Championships, Surfing America Prime events, and USA Surf Team training and competition will be shown in all 55 Islands Restaurants throughout California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii on multiple large screen televisions within the restaurants.

“We are stoked and grateful to Islands Restaurants for their support of junior surfing in the USA,” said Surfing America executive director, Greg Cruse.  “Islands Restaurants’ beach vibe, great food and fun, family atmosphere, make it a perfect match with our programs.”

“We are happy to support Surfing America and its fantastic programs for young athletes,” said Michael Smith, president of Islands Restaurants.  “We are looking forward to taking our restaurant “on the beach” and sharing our basic philosophy that a simple burger, fresh-cut fries and an ice cold drink are the perfect end to a hard day of work or play.”
