The
160-pages book “The challenging World of Composites” addresses the
incredible saga of composites as well as their status as Materials for
building the 21st Century. The saga is illustrated through many concrete
examples showing the conquest of new markets.
A progressive industry in a never-ending book
From
the majestic blades of wind turbines, the honed stems of competition
trimarans and the fuselages of the Airbus A350 and the Boeing B787, to
the featherweight chassis of Formula 1 cars and the lotus-flower-shaped
roof of the ArtScience Museum in Singapore Bay, composite solutions have
invaded every advanced sector thanks to their incomparable properties.
Resistant, light and insensitive to corrosion, they are also very much
present in everyday life. Glass fibre and carbon fibre are found in most
forms of public transport, in the frames of tennis racquets, golf
clubs, cases for smartphones and tablets, crash helmets and eyewear
frames… “As the composites industry is moving fast, JEC is publishing a

JEC Group: the spearhead of the composites industry
First
produced in the early 1940s, these materials have become ever more
sophisticated down the years. Their composition has evolved in the same
way as have application processes. Throughout this time, JEC Group has
an essential role as a catalyst, fostering the sharing of knowledge and
exchanges and promoting the development of new markets.
The book also describes a prospective dimension of the materials for building the future
To
continue to build modernity, composite materials must take up new
challenges and join in a greener approach. Ecodesigned composites are
one of the answers. Flax, hemp and bamboo fibre: plethora of renewable
resources which open up new vistas. JEC Group is accompanying the
professionals in these new challenges.
The book will be available on www.jeccomposites.com/shop/all

experts offer a comprehensive service package: the JEC publications –
including strategic studies, technical books and the JEC Composites
Magazine – the JEC Composites weekly international e-letter and the
French e-letter JEC Info Composites. JEC also organizes JEC Europe Show
in Paris – world and European leader, strongly supported by the industry
and five times bigger than any other composites exhibition – JEC Asia
in Singapore and JEC Americas in Boston, the www.jeccomposites.com
website, the JEC Composites
Conferences,
Forums and Workshops (including I.C.S., the Innovative Composites
Summit) in Paris, Singapore and Boston, and the JEC Innovation Awards
program (Europe, Asia, America, India and China). The composites
