Business news : Tommy Hilfiger Launches Surf Shack Summer Program with Art Production Fund in New York City

Tommy Hilfiger’s Summer 2013 ‘Surf Shack’ capsule collection, APF artist collaboration and North America bus tour kicked off Wednesday night with an event at No. 8.

NEW YORK--()--The Tommy Hilfiger Group, which is wholly owned by PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH], celebrated the launch of its limited edition Surf Shack capsule collection and collaboration with Art Production Fund (APF) – an ongoing partner of the Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation – at No. 8 in New York City. The event also announced the cross-continent Surf Shack bus tour starting in San Diego in June. The customized Surf Shack bus will travel to cities across North America, opening up as a mobile pop-up shop to sell the capsule collection, the artist-designed surf boards and other specialty product.

In support of the ongoing partnership with APF, Tommy Hilfiger collaborated with five contemporary American artists – Lola Schnabel, Richard Phillips, Scott Campbell, Gary Simmons and Raymond Pettibon – to apply their unique creative visions in designing a limited-edition set of surfboards. From pop-culture portraits to mystical abstracts and chalk-on-slate paintings, the artists each applied their innovative, creative visions to the boards. Starting May 15, the boards will be available for purchase in limited-edition quantities at select Tommy Hilfiger stores worldwide and on the Surf Shack bus in North America. The custom artist-designed surfboards were on display during the event as guests enjoyed music by DJ Uncle Mike.

“I’m excited to celebrate the launch of our Summer 2013 Surf Shack capsule collection and partnership with Art Production Fund,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “The collection represents the Tommy Hilfiger brand’s love of blending East Coast prep with West Coast cool, and I’m honored to have the artists’ surfboards included in the program. Art plays a significant role in my own design process and I’m always inspired to collaborate with great artistic talent.”

The event was attended by Tommy Hilfiger; Tommy Hilfiger Creative Director Trent Wisehart; APF Director Casey Fremont; APF Co-Founders Doreen Remen and Yvonne Force Villareal; artists Lola Schnabel, Richard Phillips, and Scott Campbell; celebrity stylist and TV personality Cameron Silver; Actor Brian Geraghty; actor David Giuntoli; actor Stephen Amell; actress and filmmaker Lake Bell; chef and host Jason Roberts; musician Nico Turner; artist Josephine Meckseper; artist Todd DiCiurcio; model Jacquelyn Jablonski; socialite Cory Kennedy; socialite Brooke Geahan; socialite Julia Loomis; entrepreneur and socialite Oliver English; socialite and owner of Prentice Art Communications Bettina Prentice; and pro-surfer Danny Fuller.
