Chums, Inc. announced the promotion of Scott Whitley to Product
Development Manager.
It’s a Cinderella story really. Scott began his career in 2000 as an
order puller for Chisco, later purchased by Chums, while working his way
through an Environmental Science degree at the University of Utah. An
outdoorsy guy, Scott was excited by the notion of combining his
lifestyle with gainful employment. He worked his way through the ranks
and has held several positions during his tenure at Chums, most recently
as an Inventory Purchasing Analyst.
Sterling McMurrin, Chums’ Chief Operating Office said, “Scott is a
great team member whose promotion will enhance the stability and
continuity of our growing product development department”.
In this new role, Scott will be
responsible for the leadership and direction of all aspects of the
accessory product life cycle; identifying relevant consumer, competitor
trends, and sales opportunities, bringing to market innovative and
complementary product initiatives that meet or exceed internal quality
standards, design intent, and margin targets. “We view product
development as a core competency for Chums, as important as
manufacturing, sales and marketing. New products are how we support the
growth of the business. Scott cut his teeth at Chums, he knows our
strengths and challenges, he already lives our core values, I could not
be more excited that he accepted this promotion” says Mike Neary, Chums’
VP of Sales.
